10 Years of Leadership: Spotlight on Founder of beautiLofts, Lauren Falzone

As we celebrate beautiLofts’ 10th anniversary, we reflect on the journey that started it all—one that began with passion, family, and a vision for something greater. At the heart of it is Lauren Falzone, our founder and a hairstylist with over 18 years of experience, whose dream of empowering beauty professionals turned into a thriving business. Here's Lauren's story in her own words:

Hi, I’m Lauren! A hair stylist for over 18 years and the founder of beautiLofts.

My mom, Janet, is the epitome of beauty and love - I’ve looked up to her for as long as I can remember. She had a decades long career as a hair stylist, born from her passion for empowering her clients through beauty. My dad, Joe, being a builder, had built a beautiful in-home salon for my mom. It was lovingly named “The Hair Room”. This is where my mom saw her clients and where I watched her work. Watching her cultivate and perfect her craft had a huge impact on me as a child. Her clients would come to her in a positive mood and leave feeling even better. I always knew I wanted to make the people in my life feel as confident as my mom made her clients feel.

After college I obtained my cosmetology license and worked in a traditional salon for a couple years. I made the choice to leave and worked side-by-side with my mom for several years in The Hair Room - a full circle moment from my childhood days.

They didn’t know it at the time, but my parents had given me the ultimate gift by freeing me from the commission-based salon structure. I loved working in our space so much and my clients loved the experience too. I thought, why couldn’t I create an opportunity for other beauty professionals to experience the freedom I had? I was making more money, offering my clients the relaxing, luxury experience they deserved and I was free to travel, take time off and adjust my schedule whenever I wanted. It was my dream come true and I wanted that for my friends and colleagues in the industry.

I shared this idea with my husband, Tony, and although he was hesitant at first, he supported me and spent hours helping me come up with a business plan, brainstorm ideas that would make beautiLofts unique and prepare for all the different road bumps business ownership might bring. After lots of long days and late nights, our first beautiLofts location in Clinton Township was open. It had nine Lofts and one was mine. I worked in that space with the eight other empty Lofts for almost three months! My clients must have been nervous for me! I remember finally being able to take a breath when our first Loft Owner, Mandy, signed her lease. She’s still with us 10 years later!

Since our opening, we’ve helped over 90 beauty professionals gain their independence across four locations in Metro Detroit. Our Loft Owners have truly grown into a family that collaborates, uplifts and celebrates one another. It’s my absolute favorite thing about beautiLofts.

The love and support of my family is what beautiLofts is built on. I am so honored to have grown from that little girl in my mom’s salon to the woman now watching our Loft owners set a wonderful example for their own children. It is the honor of my life to support you and your beauty business.

With a decade of success behind her, Lauren is more excited than ever for the future of beautiLofts. And as the business continues to grow, her mission remains the same: to empower beauty professionals, provide them with the freedom to succeed, and foster a community built on love and support.
